need information My wife has seen some Yamahas around and likes their look. Does anyone have any experience w/ Yamahas? I am interested in their performance quality, upkeep costs, gas mileage, etc. Yamaha Quality. My V Star 1100 had over 30,000 miles on it when I traded it last fall for a Royal Touring Deluxe. I road the V Star to Alaska and back last summer with nary a single problem. It was a 2002 model which I purchased new. I changed the brake pads once, set the valve tappets twice, repaced spark plugs three times, and changed the oil and filter at required intervals. Changing the oil filter was a shore on the 2002, but I think the newer models have spin on oil filters.
I traded so late in the fall that the Royal Star only had 2000 miles on it before the Minnesota winter put a halt to riding. It seems to be a great bike however.
The V Star 1100 averaged 45 miles to the gallon. The Royal Star seems to average 40 miles to the gallon.
